Drone Consulting and Auditing

It should not be too difficult if you know how to do it, right? So, follow these steps below and remember to submit the best possible documentation. Again, these are guidelines and you should confirm with the CAA if you have any questions.

Step 1:

  1. Submit the CA 101-24 Application for RPAS System Safety Approval and pay the fee for - Application for issue/reissue/amendment of a letter of approval.
  2. The SACAA will review your submission and may ask for additional information.
  3. Upon completion of the review, you will be issued an invoice, calculated per SA-CAR 187.01.22 "assessment of system safety submission, per hour R 810.00"
  4. Once the Invoice has been settled you will receive RPAS System Safety Approval for the Specific Make and Model of RPAS e.g. DJI Phantom 4.
  5. This step may also include an aircraft inspection and demonstrating design capabilities of the drone.

 Step 2:

  1. Now that you are in possession of the RPAS System Safety Approval, you may submit the CA 101-25 Application for Initial RLA.
  2. You need to pay the following fee - Application for issue/reissue/amendment of a letter of approval. (This fee is payable for each specific RPAS i.e. per serial number)
  3. Supporting documents remain as per the initial RLA application with the addition of the RPAS System Safety Approval of course.
  4. Upon completion of the review, you will be issued an invoice, calculated per SA-CAR 187.01.22 "assessment of system safety submission, per hour R 810.00"
  5. Once the Invoice has been settled you will receive an RLA for each specific RPAS.

Upon issue of the RLA, you should notify the Flight Operations inspector via email and attach a copy of the newly issued RLA.
